Therapeutic Potential of Dragea volubilis Leaf Extract against Scopolamine-induced Memory Impairment in Young and Aged Mice

Background: Treating neurological disorders is still a major challenge, especially diseases like alzheimer's. Dragea volubilis wonder herb with many pharmacological activities neuroprotective, antioxidant, anti-tumor, and anti-inflammatory. synonymously known as Wattakaka volubilis. Chemical exploration of has yielded polyoxypregnane glycosides. Objectives: This study focused to explore the cognition-enhancing neuroprotective functions chloroform extract in young old mice interoceptive exteroceptive models. Materials Methods: The (CDV) was prepared by soxhlation method. anticholinesterase, behavioral parameters were assessed through avoidance, elevated plus, morris water maze. In-vivo studies conducted dividing animals into 4 groups 5 (scopolamine-induced amnesia) 6 each group. scopolamine administered at 2mg/kg two different doses (100, 200 mg/kg) for 14 days. Animals sacrificed after brains isolated antioxidants acetylcholinesterase assays. Results: A marked increase step-down latency (SDL- passive avoidance) significant reduction transfer (TL) plus maze noticed extract. It also demonstrated improvement memory (MWM) test both training retention trials. CDV inhibited reduced thiobarbituric acid reactive substance activity (TBARS) increased glutathione (GSH) catalase brain showing antioxidant properties.
